We’re still a long way off, but this morning we maybe slightly closer to the day when the Senate may vote to remove Trump.
But what happens if Trump refuses to leave? Who believes he will accede to the rule of law? What actual mechanism exists to force him out of the White House? Which agency, which power, exercises the authority of the Senate? Do the Capitol Hill police, deputized by the Sergeant of Arms, frogmarch him out the front door? Would it take a military action, and where would something like that take us?
This was once an academic discussion. But until this person took office, so was all the impeachment discussion in the Federalist.
